Thangavelu Mariappan of Tamilnadu and Varun Singh Bhati of Noida won gold and bronze medals at Paralympics respectively in the men’s high jump T-42 event in Rio de Janeiro, Mariappan jumped 1.89 metres while Varun Singh Bhati jumped 1.86 metres which is his personal best.
